Case Studies- PROJECT: Custom Lighting for Purdue University Biomedical Building CHALLENGE: Purdue University representatives approached bo•mar seeking a cost effective solution for large industrial lighting fixtures that looked high-end, but met cost and energy consumption goals. The Purdue team wanted something that fit with the Modern/Art Deco interior design of the facility in which the fixtures would be installed. The customer also supplied a small commercial fixture they liked that was approximately 1' diameter by 1' tall. SOLUTION: bo•mar has years of experience with custom lighting fixtures and was able to provide the necessary expertise. Working from industrial design concept sketches, bo•mar was involved with the product development from the concepting stage, to prototyping, and production. bo•mar even provided installation assistance. The engineers at bo•mar developed an industrial sized (5' diameter x 5' tall) fixture taking cues from the commercial fixture favored by Purdue. The simplicity of these beautiful custom fixtures reduced manufacturing cost. The unique design has no visible fasteners and uses fluorescent technology, thus reducing energy costs.
