Modern Habitat Solutions, an agriculture products company, came to bo-mar with a working model of seed plotter implement. Several units had been built by hand due to the low volume requirements. At the time, there were no CADD drawings available for the product, which allowed discrepancies to exist between each unit produced. Before partnering with bo-mar, Modern Habitat had outsourced the metal fabrication processes to a local job shop. In turn, the job shop outsourced the laser cutting needed to produce the seed plotter.
Once bo-mar got involved in the project, our degreed engineers and designers created model assemblies for the product using SolidWorks engineering software. We then redesigned the previous plans in order to solve problems that the original seed plotter encountered. First, bo-mar increased the size of the cultipacker, the wheel that tills the dirt. Broadening the cultipacker meant that the implements could easily drive through softer soils without getting stuck. Next, bo-mar began building the seed plotter implement in multiple sizes (4 foot, 6 foot, and 8 foot). Finally, the most significant modification was made to the size of the seed box. bo-mar ’s design increased the capacity for seed by 20 percent, while lowering the seed box and presenting a sleeker look. bo-mar became Modern Habitat Solutions’ one-stop-shop for all of their fabrication needs.
