Stay in touch with bo-mar
Stop by and see us at PRI 2016
By: Bob Buchanan
Will you be at the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) trade show in Indianapolis December 8-10? Stop by and see us in the Yellow Hall at booth #4528. (view on exhibitor map) Whether you want ideas on how to improve your components or a new manufacturer for your part, we’re here to help. We love chatting with other engineers, fabricators, and gearheads about how to make racing better and safer. The metal fabrication pros at bo-mar have a long history working with racing teams and parts manufacturers. Our approach is collaborative – we want to innovate together.
Here are some examples of our work for the racing industry in recent years:
Swept back headers for Top Fuel team
This past season, swept back headers became a hot topic in the NHRA. Jack Beckman’s crew chief Jimmy Prock seemed to have changed the performance of the Funny Car field this racing season after shattering all the previous national records, with his new swept back headers. Now, bo-mar is working with a Top Fuel dragster team to experiment with a similar setup to try to enhance the car’s performance. *Note: experimental part not pictured, for obvious reasons, but this is a header stiffener that we have fabricated in the past.*
Moto3 cylinder modification using CNC machine
Back in 2012, bo-mar was asked to modify a cylinder for Grand Prix motorcycle racer Maverick Viñales before the MotoGP came to Indianapolis. We used our CNC machine to change the deck height of the cylinder to increase compression. Maverick finished the 2012 season third in points for his Moto3 class!
Chassis jig for Top Fuel race team
When one of the Brownsburg-based top fuel race teams decided to start building their own dragster chassis, they came to bo-mar for help. We built a chassis jig table and a second table for other assemblies (wing mounts, etc.). We think the jig has gone to good use, as their fabricators are always working on a new chassis when we deliver to their race shop.
